Catherine Smits is highly experienced in Competition & Regulatory Law. She acts for clients across a range of industries and advises on all aspects of EU and national competition/antitrust law as well as on State Aid. Catherine’s experience in applying competition rules in the context of Merger Control is highly sleeked. She works for industries such as telecommunications and IP-rich industries such as media and the technology and telecommunications sector.
Catherine provides clear and practical advice to enable KOAN’s clients to identify and minimise risks from breaching competition law, which can include fines, private damages claims and criminal investigations.
Catherine Smits is member of the editorial board of the “Bulletin du droit de l’environnement industriel” (Paris). She has also been a Member of the interuniversity Attraction Poles, Programme of Research (supported by the Belgian Science Policy Office) on internal and external dimensions of EU Law, jointly coordinated by the Institute for European legal Studies of the University of Liège, the European Institute of Ghent and the Institute of political Studies of Paris.
Catherine is a frequent lecturer on the subject of Competition & regulatory and has extensively published articles and books.
